About Don Hoi Lot

Don Hoi Lot is a sandbar off the Samut Songkhram coast, formed by sediment from the Mae Klong River and the sea. The name comes from the razor clams living in its mudflats, and it has the largest population of this species, found only in the northern Gulf of Thailand. The area is about three kilometers wide and five long. It's been a Ramsar wetland site since 2001, with 18 bird species recorded. Nearby, the shrine of Prince Chumphon draws many Thai visitors.
