About Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

Damnoen Saduak is about 100 kilometers southwest of Bangkok, and it's often called the most famous floating market in Thailand. Today it's mainly a tourist attraction, so expect crowds rather than local shopping. The market grew from a 32 kilometer canal dug between 1866 and 1868 on the orders of King Rama IV, linking the Mae Klong and Tha Chin rivers. Villagers then dug about 200 smaller canals off it.
