About Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park

King Mongkut built this summer palace on a 95 meter hill overlooking Phetchaburi, finishing in 1860. The name means holy city hill, but locals call it Khao Wang, the hill with the palace. Each of the three peaks has its own group of buildings: the palace in the west, the big chedi Phra That Chom Phet in the middle, and a royal temple, Wat Phra Kaeo, in the east. Two of the palace buildings now house a branch of the National Museum.
