This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use and disclose your information when you use the Thailand Explorer iOS app or this website, thailandexplorer.org (together, the "Service"), and tells you about your privacy rights.
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in line with this policy.
Definitions
- Application: Thailand Explorer, the iOS app provided by us.
- Website: thailandexplorer.org.
- Device: any device that can access the Service, such as a computer or phone.
- You: the person using the Service.
The app
Data stored on your device
Your trips, bucket list and memories are stored on your device. We don't have an account system and we don't receive that data.
Permissions
- Location: used for location-based features like maps. It is processed on your device and not sent to us.
- Photos and media: used so you can attach images to trips or memories. They stay on your device.
Usage data
Basic usage data, such as your device type and IP address, may be collected automatically by Apple and by the services the app connects to (for example, to load place data, maps and videos).
The website
No accounts, no advertising cookies
You don't need an account to use the website, and we don't set advertising cookies.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they read, roughly where they are in the world, what they search for on this site, and which buttons they use, such as the App Store and tour links. Outside the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, it sets first-party cookies to recognize repeat visits. Inside those regions, it runs without analytics cookies. Google's advertising features are turned off, and we never send Google your name or email address. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy, and you can opt out with its browser add-on.
Things that load from other services
- Hosting: the site is served by Cloudflare, which processes basic request data such as your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site.
- Videos: YouTube videos only load when you press play, using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com).
The support form
If you use the support form, we collect your name, email address, the type of request and your message. They are stored in a Google Sheet in our Google account and used only to reply to you and improve the app. We send you one confirmation email. We don't add you to a mailing list or share your details. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block spam, which checks your browser without tracking you across sites.
The Android waitlist
If you join the Android waitlist, we collect the name and email address you enter. They are stored in a Google Sheet in our Google account and used for one thing: to email you once when the Android version is available. We send you one confirmation email when you join. We don't share them or add you to any other list. To be removed, email us at the address below.
Affiliate links
Some links to tours, transport and hotels are affiliate links. If you click one, the partner (such as Viator, GetYourGuide or Booking.com) may set its own cookies to record the referral. Their privacy policies apply on their sites.
How we use your information
- To provide and maintain the Service.
- To answer your questions and requests.
- To contact you about something you asked us.
Security
App data is stored on your device, so its security depends on how you protect your device. We recommend a passcode, encryption and keeping your system updated. Support messages are kept in a Google account protected by two-factor sign-in.
Children's privacy
The Service is not aimed at anyone under 13. If we find we have collected personal data from a child without parental consent, we will delete it.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete any message you sent through the support form. Email us at the address below.

The Service links to websites we don't run. Please review the privacy policy of every site you visit.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
