About Si Thep Historical Park

Si Thep was one of the largest city-states of the central Thai plains in the first millennium, lived in from about the third to fifth century until the thirteenth. Its history runs from late prehistory through the Dvaravati period to the height of the Khmer Empire. The city was abandoned around the time Sukhothai and Ayutthaya rose. Prince Damrong's surveys brought it to modern attention in 1904, and it joined the UNESCO World Heritage List in September 2023.
