About Wat Phra Phutthabat

The name means temple of the Buddha's footprint. In 1624, a hunter named Phran Bun reported a large depression in the rock to King Songtham of Ayutthaya, who had a shelter built over it, and the temple grew from there. The footprint is about 21 inches wide and 60 inches long. Today a square mondop with a seven-tier roof of green glazed tiles covers it. The temple is in the hills of Phra Phutthabat district, 28 kilometers from Saraburi city.
