About Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception

This is the fourth church on the site, built by a Catholic community with roots going back to the exile that followed the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767. A French missionary, Father Augustin Peyrical, began the present building in 1904. It's often called the most famous and picturesque building in Chanthaburi, and it's a reminder of the French presence in the city.
