About Wat Phra Sing

Wat Phra Sing is in the western part of Chiang Mai's old city, inside the walls and moat. King Phayu of Lan Na built it in 1345 to hold the ashes of his father, King Khamfu. It was first called Wat Lee Chiang Phra, after the market in front of it. In 1400 it received the Phra Buddha Sihing, the image still enshrined here.
