About Phimai Historical Park
Prasat Phimai stands in the center of Phimai town and is the largest ancient Mahayana Buddhist temple in Thailand. Most of the buildings date from the late 11th to the late 12th century, when this was an important Khmer city. The walled area measures about 1,020 by 580 meters. The temple sits at one end of the ancient Khmer highway from Angkor, and it faces in that direction.
