About Khao Kho
Khao Kho rises to 1,143 meters in the western Phetchabun Mountains. The name comes from kho, the Thai word for both the Ceylon oak and a local palm, which are common here. A road leads to the summit and a memorial to the victims of battles between the Thai army and Communist Party insurgents. That unrest lasted from 1968 to 1981, around the area where Phetchabun and Phitsanulok meet.
