About Chumphon
Chumphon lies about 463 kilometers south of Bangkok, just inland from the Gulf of Thailand, and farming is its main business. It's a station on the Southern Line, and it served as a rail hub for Imperial Japan in World War II, when local volunteers fought the invading troops. Near the coast, Hat Sai Ri is a long white beach with a memorial to Prince Chumphon, the father of the modern Thai navy.
