About Chan Royal Palace

The Chan Royal Palace site is on Wang Chan Road in the center of Phitsanulok, with the ruins of the palace and several temples, plus a shrine to King Naresuan the Great. King Li Thai of Sukhothai built the palace in 1362, on a mound west of the Nan River, when he moved his capital here. King Borommatrailokanat of Ayutthaya used it as his residence after moving the capital here in 1463. The Fine Arts Department has finished the first phase of restoration.
